Step 1: Football Leaders Award

6 Hour online course

FAW Football Leaders Award (Level 1) is an online eLearning award providing a basic and engaging introduction to the organisation of football practices in a fun, safe environment with an emphasis on engaging with the young players of today.

The award provides learners with an opportunity to discover and consider the technical and social support that we, as coaches, can provide to our players, discussing various practical aspects. These include: the importance of area size, practice transitions, progressions and regressions, as well as ensuring the learner takes a closer look at themselves, their role as a coach, and how they currently share the message they provide players.

Cost $120 (AUD)  £60

To be completed before starting the C Certificate, but exemptions can apply - if current AFC B or A holder, this course is not required.

Must be completed two weeks before starting C Certificate.

Step 2: C Certificate

3/6 month, 8 online contacts, onDemand modules, tasks, session delivery & reflections back to your club.

The C Certificate is delivered utilising a variety of in-person education contacts and online workshops.  It is designed to educate candidates in the technical, physical, psychological and social requirements of modern football.  It will develop candidates' ability to plan, prepare, deliver, and reflect on coaching sessions for the development of players.

The course has been designed to support the modern coach, with education consisting of online modules, distance learning, webinars and practical contacts as well as the requirement to coach within your own coaching environment.

During the course, coaches learn about the key requirements of supporting an individual within modern football, developing players across our four pillars (technical, physical, psychological and social) and their ability to plan, prepare and reflect on sessions.  There is no formal assessment.

Cost $1,200 (AUD)  £600

To be completed before you can apply for the C Licence.

Next C Certificate course starts on Monday 28th Oct 2024, so do not miss out..........

Step 3: C Licence

Practical sessions & assessment in Wales, webinars, onDemand modules, tasks, session delivery & reflections back to your club.

The C Licence further expands students' knowledge and understanding of the Welsh Way principles and how they can be embedded into coaching practices.

The course introduces the four moments of the game (attacking, defending and transitional moments) to increase understanding of our game principles and provide students with practical examples of how to utilise general based sessions within coaching practices to the benefit of all players. The course also explores an additional tactical pillar.

Students will be provided with a designated mentor to support their individual journey across the C Licence.

Students are required to attend a combination of practical and theory lectures, complete eLearning modules and distance learning tasks. This course is assessment based.

Combined Cost with B Licence $10,800 (AUD)  £5,400

Coaches will be eligible to start their C Licence in May 2025 before travelling to Wales in September 2025 to attend practical & assessment days provided they have completed the C Certificate.

Once students have completed the C Licence they will be eligible to assess the B Licence.

Step 4: B Licence

Practical sessions & assessment in Wales, webinars, onDemand modules, tasks, session delivery & reflections back to your club.

The B Licence is framed within our "Welsh Way" Principles of Play.

The course aims to create coaches who have the capacity to plan and design meaningful practise, adapt to the varied contexts and challenge their personal philosophy to develop the individuals' and teams' multi-disciplinary demands; central to this is developing the coach's capacity to utilise and apply reflective practice techniques.

The course will explore the technical, tactical, physical, psychological and social requirements of modern football, while coaches will learn to devise, organise, conduct and evaluate coaching sessions with the development of youth and senior players in mind.

Students will be provided with a designated mentor to support their individual journey across the B Licence.

Students are required to attend a combination of practical and theory lectures, complete eLearning modules and distance learning tasks.

This course is assessment based.

Cost included with registering for C Licence as above.
